Let's try this again... Join us this Saturday for the Ridgetop Ramble Redux through Shawnee State Forest. The snow and ice are gone and the gravel roads of Shawnee State Forest are longing to be ridden by you. Conditions are expected to be dry on the ridgetops and a little muddy down below. This is a hilly route (4700 ft of climbing in 43 miles), that covers mostly gravel roads and a logging road (a little more technical, and muddier than a normal gravel road). If the distance and amount of climbing sound like too much, this early in the season, join us for a 23 mile version with 2,000+ ft of climbing that covers the highlights of the 43 mile version (including the logging road).
Here are the details!
Food, Water and Equipment: We will be riding in areas of Shawnee State Forest that are very remote so come prepared with everything you will need to complete the ride. On the 43-Mile Route there is one opportunity to refill water from a spigot on Forest Road 5 (around mile 14 or 15 - there will be signs), but that's it. Bring enough food and water to last you the entire day.
And as a friendly reminder...
This ride is 100% free and self-supported which means we are not offering any form of ride services or sag. By voluntarily joining us on this ride you are acknowledging that you are fully responsible for yourself and your bike. If you cannot complete the ride, be prepared to self-rescue or to navigate your way back. We highly recommend bringing a friend to ride with.
